COSHH assessments
COSHH stands for ‘Control of Substances Hazardous to Health’. Using chemicals or other hazardous substances at work can put people’s health at risk, so the law requires employers to control exposure to hazardous substances to prevent ill health. You will need to protect both employees and others who may be exposed by complying with the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH).
The COSHH regulations require employers to assess the risks from hazardous substances and take appropriate precautions by a means of COSHH Assessments.
Hughes Health & Safety can prepare a COSHH File which will include details for all products in your workplace as identified under the regulations, assessment of the risk posed and safety data sheet. We can organise appropriate health surveillance where the assessment has shown that it is necessary or where COSHH sets specific requirements. We can also prepare plans and procedures to deal with accidents, incidents and emergencies involving the hazardous substances identified and ensure continued support by a periodic review process.
